I agree with Tim Keller, “I read because I’m desperate.” While reading by itself will not make one a better leader or follower, reading well will improve both. Yet, even then, one must take the knowledge and allow it to change his/her life. Read purposefully.

How To Get Unstuck, by Matt Perman
What a great read. Whether as a sequel to “What’s Best Next”or not, this is a great read.
Perman’s knack for bringing forth what matters, and what’s best next!
I was given an advanced copy. As with any non-fiction, I start reading by skimming through each page and found myself being continuously captured, bogged down even. Finally, after diving into parts of the book, I went the beginning and read it through. Then! Then I took out my pen and began marking it up.
I’ll let others throw out the nuggets here and on various blogs. There’re too many to list.
Well done Perman.

I read No Limits last year, just finished listening to it, and have started listening again.
Powerful.

Bud & Me : The True Adventures of the Abernathy Boys by Alta Abernathy
On the night after finishing their cross-country horseback trip , Temp thought about what Teddy Roosevelt said to Bud (age 13) and Temp (7) before leaving,
"I want to see you game boys. I want to see you brave and manly, and I also want to see you gentle and tender. Be practical as well as generous with your ideals. Keep your eyes on the stars, but remember to keep your feet on the ground. Courage, hard work, self-mastery, and intelligent effort are all essential to successful life. Alike for the nation and the individual, the one indispensable requisite is character."
Yes, I thought as I drifted off to sleep, Bud and I didn't quit. We must have character.
